Volleyball nets span the entire width of the court (29’6” | 9 m) and are held rigid by outer poles typically set 3’ (.91 m) from the court. The center height of a volleyball net differs for men’s and women’s play with men’s nets regulated at a height of 7’ 11.69” (2.43 m) and women’s at 7’ 4.35” (2.24 m).
Indoor volleyball: NCAA, FIVB & USAVB (USA Volleyball) Official dimensions for indoor volleyball courts: 59 feet (18 meters) long by 29.5 feet (9 meters) wide. The FIVB governing body sets official court dimensions.
The free playing space shall measure a minimum of 12.5m (41’) in height from the playing surface. Boundary lines mark the perimeter of the court. The end lines mark the length or the court, and the sidelines to mark the width of the court. The Service area is the area beyond the service line where players serve the ball.
Sitting volleyball teams play on a smaller court, and the volleyball net sits lower to the ground than standard volleyball nets do. The international net heights for sitting volleyball teams are 3 feet 9.28 inches or 1.15 meters for men’s teams, and 3 feet 5.34 inches or 1.05 meters for women’s teams.
The volleyball court measurements for the service zones are 29 feet by 6 inches wide which is the same as the width of the court and it extends to six feet deep behind the endline. There are two lines that serve as extensions to the sidelines that connect the furthest end of the service line to the court endline.
What is the size of an indoor volleyball court? An indoor volleyball court is 18 meters long by 9 meters wide (59 feet by 29 feet, 6 inches), 9x9m (29'6" x 29'6") on each side of the net. According to FIVB rules, there must be 3m (9'10") of free space on all sides of the court.
While the net dimensions remain the same as those of indoor competitions, in sitting volleyball the court is smaller at 10 x 6 meters. Instead of a three meter line, which we call our ten foot line in the US competitions, in sitting volleyball, they play with a two- meter attack line.
Nets and posts. The net is 2.43m high for men and 2.24m high for women. It is placed vertically over the centre line. It is 1m wide and 9.5m‑10m long and is 10cm square black mesh. The height of the net is measured from the centre of the playing court.
